6,5 sst build go long or short throat vld or 142 smk ?

Always get to this point with new project , my experience says go with 142 smk there easy to find a node for good BC and weight.
On the other hand VLDs are more popular most new designs are built with secant ogive also there are different wieghts 130 to 150 class bullets to try .
6.5 sst Sherman SAUM
Broughton barrel 5c 28" finish
Stiller short action Mag bolt face
All opinions welcome!

Thats what the question is short for vld or long for smk mag length does not enter equation with this chambering .

Go long, forget the VLD's and throat it for the Berger hybrids, they have a closer bearing surface to the 142 SMK if I remember correctly and are more forgiving on seating depth than the VLD's. I know the 142 SMK and the 140 Berger Hybrid both shoot out of my Creedmoor with no issues in seating depth or OAL. Plus the 150's will need the longer freebore along with most the good bullets that will make that cartridge shine.

My SST is the original (shorter) reamer spec from Eric @ Axisworks- I have no problem fitting in the mag or finding a good node with 150 SMK's, 146 Matrix, 140 Hybrids, 147 ELDM, 130 VLD's that I have tried so far. If you are a yellow box fan, the longer throat would be worthwhile for the 156 EOL- but if I was going that route, I would do the SS not the SST for a few gr more boiler room.
