6.5 RUM...

Rich , personally I've not shot the 6.5 rum but have a wildcat 6.5 based on the 460 Weatherby case ( shortened ) my barrel life was aprx 600-650 rounds . I've got 3 dif Reamers with longer leades trying to salvage before setting back .
Long story short , I went thru 3 barrels , all rechambered 2-3 times , then gave up . This was 30 yrs ago and powder choices weren't like today .
I love the 6.5 and if you go this route please let me know the outcome .
Thanks , Gary

Many years ago, I visited PO Ackley at his shop in the SLC area. We talked about many things rifle related. His opinion was that there was no such thing as an "OverboreCartridge", just that he could not find a slow enough burning powder to make it work.

No data, sorry. There may be a couple of surplus cannon powders which would work with this cartridge but other than that, it's slim to none for current production powders.

If you drop down to the 6.5-300 Weatherby and stick with the heavier bullets, you can find about 3 current powders which will work. The 6.5mm Weatherby-Wright-Hoyer is the historic ancestor for this cartridge.

Or your could entertain the 6.5 STW or the 6.5mm BooBoo (8x68 parent, improved), both of which will allow for available powders.

I shoot the 6.5 WSM throated for the longer VLD bullets and get to within a few FPS of the larger cases. This is mainly due to the limits of the powders and the barrel lengths for the larger capacity cartridges.

Enjoy the Search!

I ran 140 grain hammer Bullets to 3760fps where I hit pressure with Reloder 26 in a 7mm RUM. I couldn't get near that with any of the slower powders.
Steve at Hammer Bullets has a 6.5 Lapua Improved that ran their 137 grain to 4700fps with US869, but eventually ended up around 4200fps to stay safe with temperature fluctuations. It was his wife's favorite gun. No such thing as overbore !

I have a ex relative who has a 6.5/338 um. Uses it for antelope hunting. A little shorter brass with less powder has a small advantage. Disadvantage 338 um brass

While it looks "cool", there is zero practicality with it.

It really won't go faster than a 26 Nosler, 6.5-7mm STW or 6.5-300 Weatherby.

These are already barrel eaters. Though I do consider barrels a consumable, I don't really want to consume it that fast with no perceptible performance gain.

However

Each of us chooses a path to tickle our own fancy. A 6.5 RUM may be just such a tickle for you.

@cowboybart has a good suggestion. I've never used it, don't think I have any. My QL model says US 869 or even 50BMG is good.

Might be able to offer more if you tell us why you would want it.

Reloader 33. My jugs of WC 872 say to use H870 data so if quickload has H870 you may be able to find out if it will work.
