StaBall is, Lookin' GOOD so far, in my 1-10 twist, Tikka T-3, .243 Win. with, 100 grain, Horn BTSP's !
Took Ackleyman's advice on, a cheap / good ( AKA poorman's Partition ) Bullet "needed" for, a big Idaho Buck ( hopefully I'll draw the Tag ! ) and decided to try the Hornady, 100 gr BTSP's out ! They shot good with, mid range to, near Max, charges of, StaBall 65 in 95* Heat with, Wind gusts ! Shot, a descent, .712 C to C group, W/ 5 shots at, 112 Yards. I was trying to keep the Barrel Cool, so was putting the Rifle under, the Truck Canopy shade and bringing it back out, every couple of shots ( not a real good, group shooting, "technique" ). Have NOT Chrono'd yet, but easily, 3,000+ FPS !
Temp insensitive and Meters,. PERFECTLY, all day long ! I will post the Load in the .243 section in a couple of Weeks after we test some more and Chrono a few loads. To answer msalm's question above,. the Burn rate, is like 4350 and it looks like, a great Powder for, the Heavier Bullets ! This Load will be for Practice on 10" dia Steel Plates ( all Hunting positions to, 700 Yards ). NO, I won't be shooting at Deer, past 500 yards ! I seriously, DOUBT if, Staball 65 would work, very well, in the 6.5 PRC as the Powder only, fills up 2/3's of a .243 Case ! Yes, I was skeptical, to say the least ! BUT it looks like, a great Candidate for the 6XC and other "smallish", capacity cases !
