6.5 partitions in a Grendel

Does anyone have experience with terminal performance with a 100 grain 6.5 partition in a Grendel? Shots will most likely be 200yds and under. I would sure think they would work well but if anyone has real experience I would be interested to hear about it.

First buck (8 pt.) I took with my 6.5 Grendel was using 100 gr. Partition. He spooked and was spinning to run when I shot him high in the back on steep downward angle. Bullet completely penetrated the torso and broke the offside leg. I finished him with a follow up to the neck while he was down. Bullet entered high on the back on the left side, exited low through ribs on right side continuing to break right fore leg. It worked just fine. Shot was about 60 yards. Recovering him out of that ravine took a bit but well worth it.

It was/is really thick where I shot him why I I used a finishing shot. I am sure he would have died if I left him based on what I saw inside chest cavity when I cleaned him but I couldn’t tell that when I shot him. I don’t like having them run off - makes recovery more of a chore.

Are you set on the partition?, if not noslers 100g Hunting BT is outstanding in my 6.5 grendel vs the partition.
my daughter took a deer a few years ago with a 120 ballistic tip amd it did fine,so i am not really set on anything. These 100 grain partitions finally became available so i picked up a few boxes.
When you say outstanding are you referring to accuracy or killing performance?

The partitions never printed under a inch at 100yds in my ruger predator the tipped Noslers averaged .650". Those tipped bullets are exceptional in killing performance imo. A ton of energy is dumped internally, not 1 deer or antelope ever took a step after shot.

Personally, I run a 105gr MKZ from Cavity Back Bullets in my 6.5 Grendel. I'm in Indiana, and I've taken several deer with mine. I've intentionally taken a few quartering shots past 200 yards, and hit the front shoulder blade and I've always had a clean pass through with good expansion. Farthest kill on a deer was an 8 pt at just under 300 yds. He was quartering away heavy. I hit just behind the back rib, through the heart, and out the front portion of the off shoulder. Good expansion and penetration was over 30". They are expensive projectiles, but they are accurate. I have a lifetime license, and butcher my own so my only costs are the projectile, powder, primer, and freezer paper or vacuum bags. I don't mind spending the extra $3-$5 per year on the bullets :)

Well since you already bought them, you can tell us. I think you'll get more responses if you ask about people using something like a 6.5CM at distances where the velocities match up.

Works great! I am a huge 6.5Grendel fan and owner. All my guns are gas guns I want to get a bolt gun in it soon.

For target shooting I use Bergers and Hornady but for hunting I use Barnes and Nosler Partitions!

At close range with perfect shot placement even the Bergers and the Hornadys can do a decent job but if you hit shoulder and are even just a bit near the limit they fail to get the job done. Now once you go down to varmints like Coyote, fox, ground hogs it does not matter shoot the cheapest stuff that shoots straight in your rifle.
