6.5 Lapua varmint load

been workin on an explosive light bullet load for the 6.5x47 and after trying the 95VMax about 3/4 inch at 300 is best I can do,,it is really fast at 3350 though so it would work well on yotes and whistlepigs to a fur piece,,
I havent clocked this next load but it feels light but shoots tight,,

I looked around in my pile of stuff and found some 322 and Benchmark and decided to try the Benchmark with the 100 NBT,,worked up from 36 as there is no data and that powder is fast,,shooting 3 at a time every .5 grs it started coming in around an inch at 37.5 and 38 and 38.5 were both pretty tight,

6.5x47 L
100 NBT
CCI450
38.5 Benchmark
2.755 COAL

the target is a marker circled around a 1976 1/2 dollar.

looks like it would be around 1/2 inch at 300 yards,,

gonna shoot some more and if it will do that regular I wont even chrono it

sometimes odd powders and bullets will shoot lights out,

Awesome shooting , were you seeing any pressure signs ? what action are you shooting ?
I have some benchmark, so I may try with my95 v maxs.

THAT LOAD SUCKS!!!

And furthermore, it is unfair to small, lovable little furry people... ;)

no pressure at 38.5 BM,,I havent clocked it yet either,,I shot some 95 VMax with RL15 last week that went over 3300 fps and under an inch at 300,,

Stiller Tac 30 action and 28 inch Bartlien 8 twist 5R barrel

I shoot the same load. 38 gr benchmark. 95gr vmax, going 3350. in a 28" barrel. 39 gr is over 3400 but was a little hot for my rifle. It usually shoots better than .3 and .4 inch groups. pretty much disintegrates prairie dogs!

I use 38.5 gr Benchmark on the now discontinued 85 gr Berger and they are close to 3500 fps and very tight groups.

I may order some Sierra 85 VM and try them,,it seems at 200 and 300 the light fast bullets may shoot better than the 130-140 VLDs

I usually shoot 123s out of my rifle but id love to try 95s but im wondering how far those 95s are jumping or any seating issues.
