6.5 Grendel Rate of Twist ??????

The 6.5 Grendel seems to me to be a very efficient cartridge but most places do not mention the rate of twist. Now I am shooting 6x47 Lapua on a Kelbly action and Krieger barrel and a 45X Leupold Comp Scope. This is an exceptional accurate rifle. I would like to try out a 6.5 Grendel on this this action but before I order this Krieger barrel, what is the optimal Rate of twist shooting a 120-130 grain class bullet. And what kind of accuracy can I expect to get? Will it shoot sub MOA or is this just wishful thinking?

I have Nesika Pistol in 6.5 Grendel with an 8 twist. The gun will shoot in the 4s with very little load development. I only shoot 140's in it and am getting 2130fps from a 15" Kreiger barrel, with 26.0 gr H 4895. For more velocity the go to powder seems to be CFE223, check out the 6.5 Grendel forum. Very good info on loads. Most guys are shooting AR's but the load development should work in a rifle also. I am using Lapua brass and Federal 205m primers.

I have a 9 twist in a AR15 and a 8 in a boltgun. If I have the choice I will go with the 8 twist. The 9 shoots 100- 107 and 123's well but so does the 8 twist. And the 8 can shoot the 130 and the 140 if you so choose. Matt

9 Twist in an AR and if I was going to do a 6.5 grendel in a bolt gun, and I wouldn't, it would be an 8 twist. Personally I love it in my AR and love the energy on target for shooting at steel.

It's been recommended that 1 in 9 for 20-24" barrels. 1 in 8 for 18-20", 1/7.5 for 14" and 1 in 7 for 10". Satisfied with my 1 in 9 24" barrel for 123 grain bullets.
