6.5 grendel antelope loads.

Picked up a mini howa barreled action and have an antelope hunt coming up and thinking about using this. I have brass but don’t have any lighter bullets. But what’s your favorite antelope load out to 400 yards? Thanks.

The best velocity with the Grendel is with Power Pro Varmint. Shoot 120g with the loads from the Sierra manual. Next best is IMR 8208. Loads from the Hodgdon website. I have also being working up 100 Hornady loads using Benchmark. I use mainly Lapua brass, but Hornady brass for hunting loads. Im sure that you can work up a fairly quick load using that data ( it will like to go fairly quickly!) I would start 1.5g under maximum and work up in .2g increments. I found best accuracy and good velocity, at less than maximum loads, with projectiles loaded to max magazine length.

28g x8208, 123g sst hornady, accurate from 100 to 400, hits steel hard. This is my goat load this year.

The Hornady 123 gr is a “go-to” bullet for a lot of Grendeliers.

There are lots of loads for it in various sources, including the 6.5 Grendel Reloading Handbook.
