I have a 260 Rem. It has a little over 1600 rds through it, and still groups under half minute at 100yds. I mostly cut paper with mine also.
I don't care much for the looks of the round, but I've had better looking rounds before but they never grouped as tight as this puppy. I have a good supply of good 308 brass left over from my high power shooting days, so I reform these into 260 Rem. I use 85 and 94gr FB bullets. Recoil is on par with a 243 Win. I also use 120, 108 and 129gr BT's and they also group real tight, but with just a little more recoil. However, I took care of that by having a muzzle break installed. Now I can shoot it off the bench in a free recoil position with no problem. With the reduction in recoil my groups are a little tighter now. When the throat goes, I will most likely rebarrel in 260 Rem. I believe I will get about the same barrel life as a 308 Win. I still have my old Model 70 match rifle which shoots almost as tight as my 260 Rem.
