6.5 Creedmore Barrel Life??

I've heard about the 5000-7000 rounds you can get out of a 30BR and was thinking of building one, but I don't really want to "make" my own brass for it.

I have a Savage action and the itch to build another gun and was wondering about how the Creedmore is on barrels compared to the 6.5-284, etc.

I would say that if you are shooting pretty competitively.. then the 6.5 Creedmoor should give you at least one full season.

My current 6.5Creedmoor bbl is at 680 rounds and while I havent measured the throat recently, I dont think its moved much as I am still shooting the same 140VLD load I started out with on a new bbl. Still shoots well so it cant be jumpin....much. :-)

I will certainly report when I see accuracy tailing off but I suspect this bbl will go 3,000 before I see anything,I am a sling shooter, so maybe a benchrester might notice sooner). We shall see....

What you going to be doing with it?

1000 yard F-class than why not a SWEDE?

The Creedmore and 6.5x47 are slightly underpowered as well as the .260 remington for the 140 class bullets.

The swede does the job and does it well.

600 yards and in then a 6 br would be the ticket.

RHINOUT!

I also have a 6.5 Creedmoor,28" Schnieder, 1-8 twist,SS) barrel with 500 rds. I have been loading 140gn. A-max's with 41gn. H4350,can't wait to try Hybrid 100V) to the lands. Extremely accurate load. .2&.3 @ 200 yds. from a rest. I also have a 6XC,26" Schnieder, 1-7.5 twist,SS) barrel with over 2500 rds. through it. Accuracy is starting to fall off. Will be ordering a new barrel soon. So far, the 6.5 Creedmoor is just as accurate as the 6XC. I too hope the 6.5 barrel lasts 3000 rds.

65BR The 140 A-max's are going about 2800fps with 41gn's of H4350. I think this is a fairly conservative load as I have gotten 10 reloads out of the Hornady brass so far. A few of the primer pockets are getting a little loose and I have had to use a Hart case saver on them. Hopefully I can get 15 reloads/case. We will see. I am using Neil Jones custom dies and Wolf primers. Have had to trim the cases a little after every firing. The Hornady brass seems to be on the soft side. Hope this helps. I live in S. Florida and it has been 90 degrees plus each time I have gone out to the range. I have been reluctant to increase the load, especially since it is working so well for me.
