6.5 Creedmoor

I have recently purchased a Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmoor. Since I am unable to find 4350 powder anywhere I am using Varget @ 35.7g while using Berger 140g VLD Bullets. The result have been OK but I was wondering if someone has found a better load for going out to 500yds and beyond. Thanks for any information

From all my research and other loads that i have seen. IMR 4064 is suited for the 123gr and maybe 130gr bullets in the 6.5Creedmoor. I think it might be too fast for the 140grs.

I would check the Hogdon Reloading data site. Enter your information and ask for "All" manufactures and powders. Know, of course, some will be better than others.

IMR-4451 is a good alternative to H4350, slightly slower burning.
My findings as well. It required about 1gr more than my H4350 loads for the same velocity in reformed Lapua LR .308 cases (50.48gr water capacity). I have not developed the loads with the powder further since I have located a couple of 8lb'ers of 4350...but..it showed great potential as a replacement, particularly in the higher volume Hornady and Prime cases.

I found that 4451 works great in the 6.6x47 using that bullet. I would recoment that.

I have great luck with Reloder 17. It's temp sensitive but shoots very well at about 41-42gr. Fed 210M gave single digit SD, but CCI BR2 were around 13fps SD.

Reloder 17 gives more velocity as well. I'm getting 2720 with H4350 and 2800 with RL17.

The 140 Hybrid should do better at mag length. I think the VLDs might be jumping too much in an RPR. I load the Hybrid to 2.945".

We have been playing with a hunting rifle, 24", 8T, #5 taper, .199 freebore, Non trued Model 7 in a hs sporter stock, Gentry muzzle break.

127g Barnes long range is a super accurate bullet in several 6.5's, and with Win 760, we had the most accurate load at 3130 fps, no pressure. R#17 topped out at 3000 fps with only 9 fps ES, great accuracy.

Today, we were playing with the Nosler Long range 129g, had to drop the powder charge to 3000 fps to get accuracy. This bullet seems to be a lot more finicky than the 127g Barnes long range.

Next will be the 130g Nosler accubond, then the 130g Berger HVLD.

Then will come the Ruger Precision in the Creed, so far this rifle has been ungodly accurate, bedded with upgraded trigger.

The RPR or the Model 7?
Remington is a custom with 24" barrel, 8T.

ruger is a Hawkeye Varmint looking model. Has some kind of finish on the action and barrel with a big wide forearm, greenish laminate stock, all factory, 26" barrel. This rifle is a real shooter, cleans up easy, does not need cleaning often. It was bedded, mag box freefloated, and the barrel comes freefloated.

Ya ought to try some Norma urp. One of my shootin buddy's use it in a 22" creedmore and it is accurate as all get out. Not sure about how many grains he is burnin but could find out if you are interested.

I'm certainly interested and would appreciate you finding out. Have a Tikka CTRx that should arrive next month with a 20" barrel. Hornady mentions URP as being one of the best powders for the Creed. Also would like to find some RL16 if someone has found some.

I will find out for ya.

My buddy's urp load is 43.1grs but of coarse work up to that. He is runnin Hornady brass 140 Berger vld oal is 2.835. Barrel is custom short throated criterion. He said 5thou jam. Br-2 primer.
2780fps through magneto speed v-3.
Good luck
Also he shoots that load at 1k very well

I'm a conservative kind of guy so I'll stay close to or below the Hornady max of 41.7, but really appreciate you asking! Haven't seen much URP info and it's good to know others beside Hornady are having success with it!

Also forgot to add to that according to his quick load program that is plum safe load. But again I wouldn't start there for dam sure.
