6.5 Creedmoor

Is Hornady still the only brass maker for the 6.5CM? I ordered a Cooper Montana Varminter with 24 inch barrel and would like to start gathering reloading supplies.

Yes the 6.5 CM is very impressive! I have a Savage LRP in 6.5 CM and it shoots very well .5 @ 200m and .75 @ 300m to me this is great for a factory rifle! I have been using 142 smk's over H4350. I have tried several other powders but have came to the conclusion that H4350 is the only way to go. Also shoot 130 VLD's very awesome accuracy as well, and been working on 123 A-Max's showing good results also.

If u guys want lapua brass for 6.5 creedmoor .. just buy 260 rem brass then cut them all down to 1.815 then I debur it to get rough edges off before I run thru die . I only use Lee die so I don't scuff inside of my higher end dies. Nor sure if it matters but I do it Any way . Once u full length them. u get a little detent round the neck from where the 260 shoulder was. I use neck die b4 I load 1st time to fire . Once I do that I load and shoot . Then there all fire formed and prefect. I also anneal them after I fire form . They actually shoot really good .while doe forming lady batch I was hitting 8 inch gong at 1055 yards I also shot clay birds at that distance. Give a try u guys don't be disappointed. They will chamber tight first time .i did 300 like that an I'm way happier then using hornady brass. Too many weight inconsistency. I did weigh lapua after doing everything and firing first time. They were all with in.005. Good luck fellas I hope this helps

I use .308 Lapua, run through a 7-'08 die with .100 shaved off the base to get the shoulder pushed back about .070" and reduce the neck incrementally. I then trim to length and run through Redding S die without the neck bushing to set the shoulder for my chamber, neck turn to my desired thickness, then run through die with bushing in place, anneal, run in expander mandrel, load and fire. No cases with any wrinkles or such and the case volume pre-fire/fireformed is less than .3gr difference and shoot almost as well as fireformed. Many steps involved but i did not want .260 or .243 headstamped brass as I have another rifle in that caliber and none in .308. Case water volume with the .308 is 49.0gr.
