6.5 creedmoor OAL

Hey Guys I'm new to reloading and have a question about my OAL. So I measured my OAL with hornadys OAL gauge. I got a measurement of 2.225 three times. So I back that back .020 for a total reload OAL of 2.205. I'm using hornady eld match 140gr bullet. Does this OAL seem too small considering hornady manual states max OAL is around 2.800???? Thanks in advance...

MikeMcG,

Remember that you are using the bullet ogive to measure the OAL not the total length of the bullet to the base of the rim.

If you measured the total length of the bullet and the case you would be closer to that 2.800" number.

Regards.

^^^ As mentioned above; measure from the base of case to the tip of the bullet with nothing but your caliper. That is the OAL the book is referring to.
