6.5 Creedmoor loads

Ok....I have taken the plunge. I have a 6.5CM. Please don't judge me.

I have a 6.5x47L and have a couple of great nodes for the 139gr Scenar. All with the small rifle primer, btw. And I've taken it out to the mile.

Now, it's time to develop a load for the Creedmoor round. Here's the particulars...

Brass: Lapua (with small primer pockets)
Bullets: 136gr Lapua Scenar-L
Primers: CCI BR4
Powder: Varget

The rifle will be a secret for now. But it has a 25" heavy contour 1:8" twist barrel. So the speeds should be decent with the 136gr pill.

Anyone want to volunteer some loads with similar particulars? I have not seen many with the 136gr bullets.

Thanks! Although my barrel is longer, I was thinking of starting out with 36gr and working up. So, you've confirmed my idea is in the ballpark.

I was informed by other members to basically work off of 140gr data, being a lighter bullet you'll probably have a lil wiggle room at upper end of published data.
Be careful if going beyond.

41.5gr of Reloader 16 or H-4350 with your choice of 140-147gr bullets has shot very well for me out of a lot of Creedmoors. 140 Bergers .025" from the lands is my go to load.

I'll second this. I'm using alpha brass, so my charge weights are a little lower, but this combo seems to be the ticket in my 6.5CM. Works for multiple bullets.

I got a Remington adl on sale at cabelas for $459.99. it was a varmit model in 6.5cm. it had a heavy 26in bbl. took it home and lapped the barrel and adjusted the trigger down to 2lbs. put a scope on it I had on hand and shot some factory ammo in it! it shot half moa right off the bat. put a new sightron 6x24x50 scope on it and took it right out to 900yds. cabelas had a sale come up and all my buddys who shot this gun went down and we got 15 of them for $399.99.put sightron scopes on all of them and they all shoot great out to 900yds. all reloads 140 bergers 40grs h-4350 laupa brass small primers Remington 7 1/2 primers and they all go around 2745fps except one rifle likes 41.5 h4350 and goes 2865fps. I am on the lookout for another sale on them as cabelas is the only place around here that I see that rifle with 26in barrels.

Have you tried any Rl26 yet?
I'm betting the faster one of those creeds might surprise the hell out of you.
The others will probably be in the 2800 range.
Comparing your barrel lengths vs mine and muzzle velocity is why I say this.
I'm pushing 140 bergers @ 2740 w/22" barrel
Running 47.2 gr. Rl26, cci 200, hornady brass.

Fourpower, let us know if you see a sale come up on these 700adl varmints again. You mentioned shooting the small primer Lapua Brass, did these bolts shoot them ok without having the firing pin bushed?

Thanks for all of the replies. But, I'm using Varget. I have 48 pounds of the stuff.

I know there's lots of powders that work very well with the CM round.
