6.5 Creedmoor brass

Midway has some loaded 6.5 Creedmoor ammo for sale that doesn't cost much more than the unprimed brass. Sinclair also has some loaded ammo in stock.
 
Dang. I was just getting ready to buy some dies and brass for my 12 LRP thats on order.

Hmmm... forming from Lapua .22-250 is starting to look more viable...
 
try fire forming 6 XC norma brass. It is cheaper than the hornady and of much higher quality. You just have to expand the neck to 7mm and run it through your creedmoor die to create a false shoulder. worked wonders for my m77. Worked so well I am having my spare f classer chambered in 6.5 CM

You got to gradually expand it to .277 or .284 before running it in a 6.5 CM sizer in order to create that false shoulder as previously stated, otherwise you'll run into headspace problems.
 
David tubbs sight has norma 6XC for 69 bucks a hundred. So I guess it is a buck more. Even my fire form loads were more accurate than the hornady could ever hope to be. If you try it you will never go back

You would pay a dollar more so that you can spend the addition time and money to fire form? The hornady brass is pretty darn good stuff. Hard to believe you are seeing benefits that are worth the trouble.
 
I'm guessing the dollar more + fire-forming would be made up for in case life.

I bought 100rds of factory loaded ammo last spring - 80rds of 120 A-Max, 20 rds of 140 A-Max. Shot 'em up, then loaded them up with factory recipe loads - nothing crazy, no pressure signs. Backed off a bit and worked back up. Some 120s, a few 140s, and mostly 123s.

After the fourth (!!!!) firing (counting the factory loading), I've got 6-8 primers that just plain *FELL* out, and a whole crap load more that are loose. For stuff that is right up there with Norma 6XC and Lapua .308 Win in cost, I expect better.

To say I'm not impressed with the Hornady brass would be an understatement. Maybe I just happened to get a bad batch. I'm kind of reluctant to order another couple boxes just to find out. I've got two boxes of Lapua .22-250 to fire-form via COW and see if thats worth the time-n-trouble.
 
Buddy of mine just ordered the Savage LRP in 6.5 creedmoor. I told him I would build him some rounds.

Anyone got any good loads for them. I should get the brass this week so I will start preping it, but I need some good load data on it.

For the most part... use the factory 'recipe' on the back of the Hornady ammo boxes. These loads seem to consistently work pretty well in a lot of guns. Otherwise... head on over to 65creedmoor.com and check out their reloading forum. One of the sticky posts there links a PDF of the load data as developed by Hornady.
 
Hornady brass has always had a problem with being on the "Soft" side. Its very easy to loose primer pockets with it.
