6.5 Creedmoor 85gr Hammer Hunters Range Report

I really like bullet speed and have been working to make the 6.5 CM scream, think I got it!

TEMP 95 very hot day! Light recoil, a pleasure to shoot.

Rifle- Savage 110 Custom built, Meopta scope, M40 Bell Carlson aluminum bedded stock, EABCO 1:8 twist 26" barrel HVY

.264 Cal-085gr Hammer Hunter

VARGET powder
WLR Primers
New Lapua Brass
COAL 2.600
Very light crimp and used Warlock AmmoSeal (I often hunt in the rain)

The picture is a 100 yard 3 shot group at 45gr of Varget. Additional ladder data below -

41.50 3280fps NO PRESSURE SIGNS (Found a sub 1/2 MOA node here)
42.00 3301fps NO PRESSURE SIGNS
42.50 3360fps NO PRESSURE SIGNS
43.00 3397fps NO PRESSURE SIGNS
43.50 3432fps NO PRESSURE SIGNS
44.00 3481fps NO PRESSURE SIGNS
44.50 3492fps NO PRESSURE SIGNS
45.00 3550fps -- MOST ACCURATE (maybe a little pressure sign on the primer? (Cratering?) not much, no worries, bolt opened easily)
45.50 3604fps Very MILD primer PRESSURE SIGNS (group started to open)

I included a picture of the primer on the 45gr case

Honestly, I think it would have shot one hole but I was shaky today.

What is the case head expansion compared to factory? Those velocities look pretty high to be to be generated by 60-62k pressures.

I have not measured but I see no abnormalities in the case head or pressure signs. Hammer bullets tend to shoot faster than others in my experience.

Holy smoke!..those bullets are zippy ..hahaha...
I've had a 6.5CM for years took it out of box..put 25rd through i,cleaned it
.back in the safe..I just get it out a week ago so the 6.5 cm reloading is new territory for me...
I've completely enjoyed all the information and data ive seein so far...fun cartridge to load for..
I've toss together 5 different loads..and everything that I shoot is acceptable hunting accuracy
Pretty cool dummy proof ..hahaha
Even loads that don't shot so nice still shoot well..

Those Hammer bullets seem to shoot very well in most rifles. Finding a good load is almost boring, it happens quickly. LOL. Good thing it doesn't take long at around $1.00 each! Oh well, if I wasn't buying HH I would probably just be wasting my money on worthless things.

I like your thinking. I am searching around for a light bullet for a 6.5 Creedmoor in a Tikka CTR. But my barrel is only 20".

The twist rate would be the important factor, 20" is not so bad :) What is your twist?
It's 8 twist. It shoots really good with some old Prime 130gr I have and 129gr Hornaday American Whitetail. I will be using it on southern whitetails 300 or less yards. I really love being at 3000 fps or a little more. I don't load for it yet.
