Im working up a load for the 135 grain Classic Hunter. I’ve found the most stable fps at 41 grains of H 4350, Lapua brass and CCI #41 primers.ive never loaded the classic hunters and was wondering if they like a certain distance from the lands. Anybody have any help?

Had a customer use them in his 6.5x47 at .020 off the lands. shot one hole w h4350. Left softball size exit holes when he would shoot them in the neck for some deer hunts.

The Classic Hunter bullets were designed for hunters who want to use a BERGER bullet in their short / short medium action rifles and still be able to load the magazine. I have done testing with the .30 caliber 185gr Classic Hunter bullet seated at the magazine length (2.805 COAL actually) . Then just worked the powder charge up slowly checking for pressure signs and accuracy until I found my highest velocity accuracy node. Got it to shoot .440 groups at 100 yards. The rifle is a WIN M-70 Sporter Varmint that the only thing I've done to it was have it glass bedded. Throat is so long that I couldn't seat the bullet out to touch the lands and still have it in the case neck. These bullets are a hybrid design that has a SAMMI length nose dimension for bullets that can be seated to published magazine lengths. It is also very tolerant of jump. So try them seated to magazine length first before doing any bullet seating depth testing. The 6.5 130 AR/OTM bullet is the same design and is made for guys with the .260 or 6.5 CREEDMOOR AR rifles. We have also gotten great reports back from M1A and M1 Garand shooters using the .30 cal 168gr Classic hunter as their match bullet.
Thanks for using our bullets guys!

I have had extremely good results with the 185gr Classic Hunters from my .308 too. 44gr Varget gives me 5 shots in the .3s at 2662fps from my 24” Criterion barrel. These were magazine length, which is about .030” off the lands in my chamber.

Is the 130 AR hybrid basically a 130 hunter with a different name ? I currently have 200 loaded for 6.5 creedmoor . I'm curious because my gun shoots these effortlessly ,just load to Magpul mag length and they are like lasers . I heard conflicting arguments about the AR hybrid being able to open up enough to be a good hunting bullet. Some say they are excellent for deer and others say they won't open past so many yards .

I don’t know the answer to that. Barefooter56 would be able to answer that.

I do have some 130gr AR Hybrids and 135gr Classic Hunters due to arrive tomorrow. Have read so much about how easy both are to get to shoot well and have yet to try any. I intend to remedy that.

Me and another friend shoot these . They are very easy to load for . I use 43.3gn of Reloder 16 with ogive length of 2.195" in 6.5 creedmoor lapua brass . Another friend says that I'm missing out on the higher BC of 140gr bullets, but I can shoot these at 2950fps and surpass him shooting 2800fps with 4350 at 1000yd with a flatter trajectory .When I was working up my loads I never had a group more than 3/4" at 100yds . The 140 hybrids are similar , but in my rifle the 130s are king

The 6.5 130gr AR/OTM bullet can also be used for target and hunting applications. So someone referencing the BERGER 6.5 130 Hybrid hunting bullet is referencing that bullet would be my guess. Its the only 6.5 130 grain Hybrid bullet we produce.

The 135 classics shot better then I can in my creed carbon broughton barrel.
42 grains r 16 at 2800 best seat depth I shot a .918inch at 500. The five seat depth test groups went 2.25 with a flyer
