6.5 convertion

As you may see 1st post. I been reading alot and learning some. I do have a question that is likely to be very clear to most, I would like to know a little more on the subject. I have a RPR in 6.5 CM and was thinking I might like to convert it to 6BR. Is this possible and if so what would I need? The 6.5 has worked out very well for me out to 400 yds. That is the longest range that I have near me. I have been reading that the 6BR is a tack driver at 300 yds. I do load for my 6.5. Thanks for the help. Hope this question makes sense.

You can have a new barrel put on your rifle.

Kreiger makes pre-fit barrels for your rifle.

Contact them to see if they can make one in 6BR. If not they can tell you the best way to get there.

I am not specifically familiar with the Ruger RPR.There may be issues with the magazine but at the very least you should be able to load it one at a time.

I have removed the factory barrel (243 Winchester) from my RPR and replaced it with a Criterion 6.5x47 Lapua barrel. An easy change.
What I would be worried about concerning the 6BR would be feeding from the magazine. The 6 BR is really short so I would do some research on that. FWIW, I use AICS style mags from Magpul. Nice center feed mags.

The 6BR has the same bolt face so yes, it should.

Since Krieger makes pre-fitted barrels they have worked out all the details. Give them a call. Great people.

I stopped by the Krieger booth at the shot show this year and chatted for a while. They were very helpful.

I did exactly what your describing last year. Fed ok shot well but primer strikes seemed to be inconsistent. I would have bushed the bolt if I had not went a different direction.

Thanks S P Jim,You do raise a good thought. I do love to add to the collection, can't get too many. Krieger said they can get me a 6BR barrel same price as 6.5 & 308 only that it will be 6 month out wait time. I may look at as you said for a good deal on a ready built rifle in 6BR, I may get luck and find a used one. I am retired and have the time on my hands to look, But I know that I want to try the 6 br. I do like the 6.5 cm & 223 I have in the RPR and a CZ in 223, that all are very accurate with hand loads.
