6.5 BPC or PPC?

I've decided to have a new 6.5 built, was interested in the Grendel, but my smithy wants to chamber for 6.5BPC,6PPC case necked up to 6.5, don't know about the shoulder angle). He claims it will give greater barrel life without sacrificing much on velocity. I can't find anything on the net about this chambering. Does anyone here have any info for me?

The 6.5 Grendel is simply a 6PPC necked up to 6.5 and the shoulder blown forward .010, that's it.

Then you get to use Lapua Grendel brass with no fireforming...

I am shooting one in a Benchrest rig, 14 twist with Bob Caut. 81 grain flatbase bullets. Shoots pretty dang well also!!

I don't shoot a Grendl or a case based on it but I do have a few pieces of brass and it looks pretty darn good to my eyes. If I was going to build a 6.5 PPC, or something like it, I think I would just go with the straight Grendl. Like the Ranger says, it will save all the case forming and will probably shoot just as well or better. I know a couple of shooters who built Improved 6PPCs and guess what they did? You're right, they simply necked the Grendl down.
