6.5 Arch improved load info for 130gn VLD?

Hi all,

I have a 6.5 Arch improved target rifle that I am looking to develop loads for.

It is a sleeved Rem. 700 action on a 1:9 twist Barrel.

I am currently using 140gn berger VLD with 48.5gn of ADI 2213SC which is similar to RL22, I believe....giving muzzle velocity of ~2820fps.

I am led to believe that the 130gn VLD will stabilise better over distance, with the 1:9 twist, hence the question.

There is not a lot of available info on this cartridge....and its possible that this rifle is one of only 2 or 3 here in Aus. So knowing the question is "a long shot" any help would be appreciated!

Your current load is lower pressure than I use.

Years ago, many of us built these 6.5 Swede improved (Arch) to use for hunting rifles. But this was when the 6.5x55 was popular. Having lost it's popularity, much of the load data has been removed or hidden by the stupid Artificial 'intelligence' take over of the internet. Now all you can find is stuff for the ARC cartridge.

With the advent of the 6.5 GAP 4S which started with the 140 gr. Match bullets, we found that the 130 gr. bullets simply worked better. No need for those heavier, slower 140's when shooting PRS competitions.

I've used the Norma 130 grain Golden Target bullets for years even after they disappeared from the market. Resurrected at last, I have a new, stable source. It's mostly all I shoot for hunting as well as target.

I have loaded, all at about 3050 fps

You will need to establish your OAL or distance to the lands for pressure. Use a chronograph and tall target for work ups.

We can't adjust for all your variables, you have to do that work.
