6.5-284 with 123 gn AMax

So, this is a brand new Savage , 1:8, 26" slightly heavycontour, and it has their brake. I'd like to powder it up with IMR 4350.. I'll be using Nosler brass and BR2 Primers

Can someone offer load advice for Hornady 123 AMAX? I see IMR skips over that bullet in their data

Also, any advice on this caliber consicering distance-to-lands?

I understand this may not be a target champion's choice of gear.. but I will be killing critters as well as punching paper

What say ye?

Hornady says, 24" 1/9 Encore barrel, Winchester brass, Fed 210 primer, 123 Amax @ 2.870 COAL, IMR 4350 to start at 38.8 for a 2500fps to 44.2 grains max at 2800fps.

Sounds slow to me but that's what the book says.

I'd think 3150-3200fps would be achievable from a 26" 6.5-284 and 123s.

Heck, from a 26" 260 I've pushed them to 3100 using RL17 without pressure...

Very good folks, thanks kindly... gotta start somewhere, and I was a tad concerned with just going with data for another bullet that was "close"
