6.5/284 - Will H4831 work as well as H4831SC ?

I've gotten some decent loads for my 6.5/284 using H4331SC but now I'm running out. I've seen H4831 (not SC) around for sale, but no more H4831SC. Does the non-SC version work as well in 6.5/284?

Also, can you fit enough into the case for 139gr bullets since it's "fluffier" than H4831SC due to the longer sticks?

Thanks.

If memory serves correct the straight H4831 is very close density wise to VV N-160 (perhaps a bit denser than 160) so having said that unless you have an unusually short throated chamber (assuming your using a 139-142 bullet) you shouldn't run out of room ... I did not keep any data that I had when I tried straight H4831 but the N-160 was usually a grain to a grain and a half less than H4831SC at max loads with a 140 class bullet.

12" Drop tubes could be your friend using the straight H4831

49 grns of SC is roughly 88% capacity with a case that holds *58.5 grns of water.
48.5 grns of N-160 is roughly 93% capacity in the same case... Both loads are on the top end of the pressure spectrum as far as book values go.

I abandoned testing with it early on as I knew I wouldn't be able to get any of it anyways but I do recall I wasn't doing jumping jacks after burning what I did have... Your results may vary lol.

I would assume if your running 139 you have .150 freebore or greater
.180 -.190 fb would be more typical. As long as your not loading magazine length ammo.
No need for the tube. Plenty of room. Better load density that short cut. Just harder to meter.
