I am new to this site and would like to introduce myself say hello to everyone. I am retired am born and raised in Montana. I have been a shooter and hunter for over 50 years and now have migrated into target shooting more than hunting. I have a question that I would like to bring to the plethora of experience out there. I recently purchased a Gre-Tan built 6.5-284 Shehane rifle. I am trying to find components to reload for this caliber. I see there are dies available for the .284 Shehane, but nothing for the 6..5-284 Shehane. My question is first; are there any sources for dies out there in this caliber? Next, if these dies are non existent, can I send out a set of regular 6.5-284 dies and have them reamed out to Shehane specs? And is this something a gunsmith can do? or would I have to source a die maker. I reached out to Forster and the response I received had to have come from a new hire sales person who doesn't have a clue about custom dies.
The other option I am exploring is just fireforming my cases and then use a bump neck sizing die with a .293 bushing (my barrel is .297). It looks like I can just size the neck and bump back the shoulder when needed. Is this option even feasible?
Though I have been reloading for about 40 years, this is my first experience with a wildcat, so I am wandering into new grounds here and obviously clueless. I know there is an infinite amount of experience and knowledge out there, especially in F-class shooters, so I am hopeful someone can assist me in my search. I am excited to get this gun set up and run it up against my stock caliber long range rifles.
