6.5-284 Loads w/139 Scenars?

I've had a 6.5-284 in the past and all of my load development was with 142SMK's and either H4350 or H4831sc.

I have a new build coming with a 30" Bartlein barrel and have come into a quantity of 139 Scenar bullets. I'd appreciate it if someone could give a heads-up on what loads they've been sucessful with using this bullet. Especially interested in loads using VV N160, as I've got an opportunity to buy a quantity at a good price.

All comments will be appreciated :)

I have some of these bullets also that I want to try in my 6.5-284W. Im using H4831sc and Id like to know if they seem to like a jam or a jump.

Ive been shooting scenars in a krieger and a bartlein 8.5 twist, they both shot very good groups at 53gr of rl 22, cci br-2 primers, tight neck tension and .005-.01 into the lands. run these bullets fast, they dont start shooting till you get above 3000fps, im running mine at 3060, your going to like that barlein, the first group with mine at 1000 was 3".

Well, I had decent results with about 52 gr of RL-22 backed with a Winchester primer for about 2950 fps with low ES and pretty good accuracy. It also tended to leave a very stubborn hard fouling after a long string.Velocity was 2950 fps. RL-22 was capable of much greater velocity buy accuracy dropped as velocity increased in this particular rifle.

That said I settled on the ubiquitous H4350. Why? Best ES and accuracy at the target velocity. This rifle with the previous barrel worked best at 2950, and I expect the new barrel will be the same story.

To me there doesn't seem to be a "best match" powder for the 6.5 X 284 like N133 for the 6mm PPC or RL-15 for every 22-250 I've ever had, or RL-25 for my .338 RUM. But H4350 works. Nope the load density isn't up in the preferred 95% or better range. Yup, the powder burns a little hot. Best accuracy at the rifles preferred velocity, best ES at that velocity.

Given the propensity of the 6.5 to burn out barrels in a hurry I for one will just stick with what works until it doesn't.

Twist for 139 Secnar is based upon correct bullet length, but looking a 1.650" length, I can not justify 8.8 twist; therfore, any corrections to bullet length will be appreciated with thanks. Overbore

My 139gr Scenar bullets nominally measure 1.365".
