6.5-284 Bushing dies for a .284win

With the correct bushing, it is not a problem...
Are you sure about that Preacher. The guy at the counter told me that the 6.5-284 bushing FL dies are too narrow at the neck, even if you use the correct bushing.

I saw a price difference between the 2 dies. 6.5-284 cheaper than .284 die. So, iasked the same question a year ago. I was told that the 6.5 die was narrower at the neck, and couldn't be used for .284. But you can go the other way using smaller bushing to size 6.5 in a .284 die.

All the bushings I see for Redding dies look exactly the same at our local shop related to the bushing outer diameter. the only difference is the ID. Call Redding this morning. They are very helpful.

If it don't fit into the neck, then open that up a little...
I did exactly that for my 338/284 when I used the 284 sizer die...

Looks like the way forward for me.

Thanks

Greetings,
I have used my Redding type S 6.5x284 neck die with the bushings for my straight .284 for several years, and it works just fine.
Good luck,
John

I found this forum I know it’s older but just to confirm you haven’t had any issue using a 6.5 x284 Norma s type bushing die fl die for a straight 284
