6.5-284 120gr Max Velocity ?

Hi guys, new to the forum here. Getting into a new caliber, could use some help. Building a long action 6.5-284 to seat bullets out. Will be using Lapua brass, no turn neck, 24" barrel. New long range deer rifle. Question is this: is 3200-3250 fps doable without over-pressure (120gr). If so, what powders, any proven loads at that velocity ?

Thanks

Most likely your go to powder will be 4831sc. Maybe need to try 4350 as well. Its hard to say how fast you rifle will shoot untill you actually do it. You should be able to hit those MV's with the 120 but the pressure might be a little high. Alot depends on the bullets as in bearing burface and OD. When you change the internal bore of a barrel even as little as .0001 is can change you velocitys 50 or 100 fps. So yes its very hard to say how fast it will shoot.
