If your not loading the AI version to its capability then why have it? Lot of trouble to go through for standard 6.5/06 loading.

First my rifle. It's a remmy 40X action with a Krieger 1/8 finished at 30". After testing several powders the best accuracy in MY rifle was with H-4831sc, Moly 142SMK,s or moly 140 Berger VLD,s . I use Winchester 25/06 brass necked up to .264 and Wolf LR primers. Best accuracy was attained in the 2850-2950 fps range although I can push the bullets faster.

Because I can shoot a 142 3000 fps with no pressure signs, and it very accurately.

Exactly! When loaded to equal pressure the AI delivers about 50fps more the than the standard 6.5/06. Both versions are extremely accurate at long range. Compared to the 6.5/284 I think this round may have a slight advantage in velocity but the 6.5/06 has better barrel life.

I took my 6.5-06AI elk hunting this week and killed a spike with it Monday. The 140 grain VLD did an exceptional job putting the spike down quick. I shot him at about 150 yards. I am really glad that I built this rifle around this case. If you are looking for a great 6.5, try a 6.5-06AI.
