6-204 magazine conversion?

OMW57

I have a Remington 700 vlss thumbhole rifle in 204, barrel is pretty much toast & I was wondering what might be involved in converting it to 6-204?
currently has hinged floor plate, wondered if anyone on here had experience with converting it to DBM (Detachable Box Magazine) and what would you recommend for the conversion?
Thanks in advance, OMW

As has been stated before, the Remington 700 is the most converted action in the U.S. at least. In your situation, the .204 Ruger barrel is similar to the standard .223 Rem barrel and magazine except for the caliber (.20).

Get a new 6mm barrel and find a gunsmith with the appropriate reamer. Thread, chamber, headspace, crown.

There is a fairly recent thread regarding the process of converting a stock over to the DBM system.

The DBM system is larger and slightly different in shape when compared to the standard BLD inlet. Many gunsmiths will create the inlet for you with an appropriate charge of course.

The feed rails in the action are the similar size although the feed ramp might need a little finesse for optimum feeding.

The .204 will feed through the standard .223 Rem. DBM with a little massaging of the feed lips.
