My long and still not here Dasher Build .

The Gun Smith told me He got a 5R Krieger Barrel ? This is by licensed a Obermeyer 5R.
Has enyone used one ? If so your input .

Thanks,
Don

I've used a few Bartlein 5R's in various 6mm's they worked out quite well. Krieger makes a great barrel. As long as it shoots don't worry about 5R, 4 groove etc...

I have Bartlein 5R bbls. in 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, and 308. All are excellent shooters that clean easily. @Dusty Stevens may be totally correct though, as I have had 4 groove shoot just as well.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

Junk!!! Sell it to me for half price and I will take it off your hands. (Read the Sarcasm)

Krieger anything and you will be fine. Wish I had a stockpile of Obermeyer barrels in the safe!

You and Dusty make my Day...….I have never had one R5 that didn't shoot.
I have a want-a-bee that tells me a Dasher Shooter in Illinois they don't do as well as Krieger 4 groove.

It is do to get here 12-5 ???? Hope to post about the Joy of a 17month Rifle Build ?
Thanks,
Don

I've shot my smallest group at 1,000 yards with a Bartlein 5R chambered for 6 Dasher. It was under 2".
Both my 6BR barrels are Bartlein 5R and they shoot well too. I would not worry about the 5R v. 4 groove thing.
I do prefer 7.5 twist over 8 for 6mm tho.

I had a Krieger 5R in a .308 short barreled fun gun & it shoots well. I have a Rock Creek 5R in a 6BR and it shoots great. Many guys at the highest levels of LR BR seem to prefer 4 grooves. I’m not one of them, so don’t ask me why, but I do think it’s an accurate statement (and I sell 5Rs, LOL).

I have a Bartlein 5R barrel on the 6x47L that I had built last year. Most accurate barrel I own! Cleaning is a breeze. Love it!!!!!!!!

A little report : Range time with New Dasher.
This is a 30” 5R 1-7.5 .
Testing 105 Berger HB Norma Dasher Brass CCI 450 Varget and R-15 .005 and .010 in the lands.
This Barrel seems to like Varget at 32.3 gr.
2870 av.
R-15 gave me ejector marks and heavy bolt lift at 32.5 2903 av.
All shot a 200 yards . R-15 gave some cluster groups.
Varget gave the lowest SD 3.61 .
I will load Varget and Hit my first F Class Match come Spring !

I had a 5R Rock Creek on my 6 Dasher, Savage 12ftr (I sold it) 8 twist. It was great and the guy that bought it is doing very well with it. I bought another Rock Creek sporter weight for my Marlin X7 6 Dasher, 8 twist and am completely satisfied with it. Barlow

We'll receive a nice load of Rock Creek HV 8 twist 6mm barrels next week. 28" finish length. We'll have some of each rifling type - 5R & 4H.

@Don - I’ve been through at least 15 different Bartlein, Krieger, and Broughton 6mm Barrels. My most accurate was a Krieger 5R 1-7.5” twist. Hope the barrel works great for you.
