5mm Rimfire Part II

I want a 5mm rimfire but I don't want the old Remington 591 or 592.

Is there a 22 Mag out there that I can rebarrel into the 5mm?

I have a Marlin Model 25 but I wasn't getting any replies on another post.

Any rimfire gu-ru's have info for me?

Thanks,

Steve

The bolt face on the 22 mag is smaller than the 5mm Rem. Maybe a gunsmith could open the boltface?
I know that TC has a barrel available. You would prolly be better off purchasing a 591 or 592 rather than have you Marlin rebarreled $$$$

The Remington rifles are made with a primary and secondary extractor. The entire head of the cartridge must be enclosed when the round is fired or you will most likely have a case fail where your extractor cut is. The type extractor used for the 22 WRM is not going to work, unless or course, you just like excitement. Take a look at a 591 or 592 and you will see what I mean.

Can someone post a pic - or more - showing the bolt face and the 2 extractors of the Remington 591 or 592 ?
I am thinking of converting an 22 magnum action into a 5mm remington

thanks

I'm sure it's been brought up before, but the 5mm is loaded to much higher pressures than a 22 mag. Simply stated, it's not as easy as a barrel swap, unless you only plan on shooting it once.

I have very strong action with two rear locking lugs, I just need to know what the original bolt face looks like :)
