5mm Remington Mag?

We're the bolts 9 lug rear, like a Rem 788? I can't remember. I always had an issue putting back in? Does anybody have one these buried in the closet?IMG_20241126_132347731.jpgIMG_20241126_132204113.jpgIMG_20241126_132157916.jpg

IMG_2569.jpegI enjoyed many days in the Field hunting and shooting Groundhogs with the 5mm Rem Magnum!

I had both the 591M and 592 Remington rifles chambered in the little 5mm.

591 is the clip ot magazine fed and the 592 was a tube-fed rifle

The 5mm is hard on Groundhogs if you kept your shots under 150 yards.

I really enjoyed the 5mm hunting Groundhogs until i discovered the 17 Squirrel and 17 Ackley Hornet cartridges!

I remember being about ten years old, maybe twelve and seeing a 591 with the 5mm burgandy pistol grip cap on it and gfalling in love. The trifecta in my adolescent mind was a 591, a 222 40xbr and an Ithaca 100 20 ga double.
I've never owned any one of them, but built a clone XBR, shoot a 541T and had a BSS 20 ga.

I'd like a 5mm but just never had the cash when a decently priced one showed up.

Parker, it seems that like many folks, you have suffered the consequences of misguided priorities. It's not uncommon for a man to lose focus and put more emphasis on luxuries such as food, shelter and clothing, rather than the important things such as acquisition of desirable weaponry. I hope that you can eventually rectify this problem.

The 590 series action is very similar to the 580 series but they’re not the same. In particular the extractor configuration which gave Remington headaches.
While the extractor is different because of the increased pressure of the 5mm Rem Mag and the cut out for the magazine, the rest of the features are the same, same trigger, same locking lugs same rear bolt assy, same receiver etc

The 59X series and the 58X series have both been converted to centrefire

The 58X came in left bolt right port, the 59X didn't
