We're the bolts 9 lug rear, like a Rem 788? I can't remember. I always had an issue putting back in? Does anybody have one these buried in the closet?
Thank you. It's been a whileThe bolts had six lugs from memory.
That's the beauty of a rimfire! No reloading.Berdan primed!!?? How the hell are ya gonna reload em?jd
Parker, it seems that like many folks, you have suffered the consequences of misguided priorities. It's not uncommon for a man to lose focus and put more emphasis on luxuries such as food, shelter and clothing, rather than the important things such as acquisition of desirable weaponry. I hope that you can eventually rectify this problem.I remember being about ten years old, maybe twelve and seeing a 591 with the 5mm burgandy pistol grip cap on it and gfalling in love. The trifecta in my adolescent mind was a 591, a 222 40xbr and an Ithaca 100 20 ga double.
I've never owned any one of them, but built a clone XBR, shoot a 541T and had a BSS 20 ga.
I'd like a 5mm but just never had the cash when a decently priced one showed up.
The 590 series action is very similar to the 580 series but they’re not the same. In particular the extractor configuration which gave Remington headaches. The 591 the 5mm Mag was chambered in was the same action as the 581 series
While the extractor is different because of the increased pressure of the 5mm Rem Mag and the cut out for the magazine, the rest of the features are the same, same trigger, same locking lugs same rear bolt assy, same receiver etcThe 590 series action is very similar to the 580 series but they’re not the same. In particular the extractor configuration which gave Remington headaches.
