564 Mile RT for Varget... The Journey

How far would you drive for Varget?

Just got home from a very windy 564 mile round trip on icy roads to pick up three 8 lb. containers. Would not have done it for just one. No way. Winds on the way up were 40+, on the way home 60 mph with blowing snow icing up the road in stretches. Very few semi tractor trailers on the way home due to very high tipping hazard conditions.

Many thanks to my new friend in Glenrock, WY.:)

NOPE, not selling any of it!! Don't even ask.

In phone conversation he asked me if I had any .22 rimfire ammo he could buy. He likes shooting with his grandson but got caught unable to buy ammo locally. I gave him a brick and a half on me.

You GO Bob!!

Bob, glad to hear you had a safe trip. Sounds like something I would do. Should be enough powder to burn up a couple of barrels. Guess this is just another example of just how far reaching this latest round of shortages is. Have no solutions or even offers of hope, just glad to hear you made it safely.

Yep, for me that is about a 4200 shot supply. Not that much really considering weekly practice and match season coming up. I go through a pound of something every week.

A state rifle silhouette match is good for a pound, regional or national matches will consume up to two pounds.

That powder will be used in my four match rifles. I would have made that trip for IMR4064 or IMR4895.....just as good for my purposes.

Sir,
I don't cast judgements often. But is a life worth driving 564 miles in bad weather is gotta be one of the dumbest things I ever heard someone do.
