55 grain in 243 farthest shot?

i started shooting 55 grain blitzkings out of my 243. getting some really good accuracy. are going to be used mostly for ground hogs and maybe coyotes. what's the farthest shots anyone has got with a 55 grainer out of a 243. going for right under 3900 fps. getting 3737 right now. going up .3 grains at a time till i get speed. if accuracy drops off i'm going to stay with that.

I worked up a load for my cousins .243 Remy 700 24 inch heavy barrel for PD's in the mid 90's, it was 50.5 grains of H414 under a 55 Nosler BT, chronyed at 4,019 fps. (I write all info down in my load manuals), anyway I watched him splatter a PD at an honest 450 yards in S. Dakota pretty much aiming dead on. That bullet was moving! That was his longest shot and from prone position on a Harris bipod. His only complaint after a day of shooting was too much recoil after 100-150 rounds in a day. But he was smiling. :)

i got a 9 and a quarter. wonder how it's going to do. first tests are promising. got em juiced up to 3737 so far. using reloader 10x. no signs of pressure so far. took forth shot to get sighted in. next six shots didn't come out of 3/4s of an inch and most touched. i just have very little experience with such small bullets. i'm just curious as to whether or not they are doing to stay stable and how far they will carry 3/4 moa out to. even 400 or 500 would be phenomenial considering i usually shoot in the calm. wind normally isn't a factor. morning and evening in summer and fall. the recoil of this load with h-s precision stock is nil. the balance is so nice. it would cover all most all of my ground hog hunting needs even with just a 16 power scope.

I have a Rem VLS in .243 that had a 9-1/4 twist. It will shoot 500 yards with little problem. Wind deflection is 2.6" (.49 moa) per mph @ 500 yards & 3600 fps which was my fast node with safe pressure using H414

i'm very pleased to hear this. i got 3837 fps today and .4 3 shot group. two shots were one oblong hole. I might try to push them a little faster. i primers are starting to slightly flatten. i'm going to try .5 grains more and if accuracy stays good i'm going to stick with it. i'll be close to 3900. that'll be plenty. i'm getting excited. ;D

this load is remarkable so far. i've only shot at 100 yards so far though. which worries me. what will it do farther out. I'm going to keep increasing the grains slowly till I see signs of pressure or the accuracy goes.
