55 grain 20 cal. Berger's

Have a 20 BR with a 8 twist on the way. Looking for starting loads for the 55 grain Berger's. Most interested in 4007 ssc data but any data would be welcomed.

Don't know how much good it's going to do you, but I recently tried 32.5 grains of 4007ssc and 55 grain Berger's in a 20BR that I had for only a short time. Long story short.....I sold it as it was too heavy for coyote calling and I am now currently building another. I should have a newly barreled action in a stock tomorrow and ready for testing next week. I will be using the same combination along with other powders, but the 55 grain Berger will be a constant.

Anyway, the shots I did shoot, about 5 three shot groups) were all around .5 moa at 100. So there was potential there, but the 20BR could probably do that with any of the recommended powders :D

I do want to try BigGame as it's more available to me.

I would like to hear the results of your testing, and I will post mine as well.

BTW....my barrel is a #4 Lilja 9 twist finished at 25 1/2'

Looking forward to you testing loads on your 20 BR using the 55 Grain Berger's. Will post my result when I get my 20 BR going.

About .5 moa is the best I have achieved with the 55's in the 9 twist barrels.,two of them) The same two barrels will shoot bugholes with the Berger 50's. My testing was performed in a 20 PPC with multiple different powder combos,.... best I achieved was with 28.3 gr Varget w/ a CCI450 primer in a Lapua case, bullet was seated aprox. 0.010' off,... which was too hot for continued use. Seems to me the nine twist just isn't quite cutting the mustard for this bullet. I'd like to hear more results. I do know that people have already found them to 'blow up' in large cap. cartridges using an 8 twist.

Chris

Planning on going out tomorrow to test 4007ssc and N540 with the 55's. I am also going to try a few 50's to see how they compare.

Stay tuned.....
