5% discount on Sightron Scopes

Bear Basin, a website that already has pretty good prices on optics, is currently offering a 5% discount on the SIII line of scopes - limited to stock on hand. I just ordered one of the 1/8 dot models for $790 delivered to my door. I have seen them less expensive on a couple other websites, but of course they didn't have any in stock.

Optic Zone is 9% off. And SWFA offers to beat the competition, so if you call the Optic Zone and be real sweet, I bet you can get 10% off.

About the same deal when you add in shipping. I hate doing the beat the competition game. If you can beat the competition, post that price to begin with. Everyone knows what everyone else is charging.

Crap. I was by passing their home page and missed all that information. Base price was less at Bear Basin but the extra 5% would have made it a little less. 10% off is a good deal.

The Ammo Zone is still the cheapest place to buy the scope I was after but they were not in stock.

The additional 5% amounts to about another 40 bucks or so, not really a huge deal, but that 40 bucks can get you a set of rings. I never take the advertised price as gospel. I will always call and speak to someone on the phone. If you real nice and not a wise guy, many times you can get a more favorable discount. I think many places would rather take another 5 points off then not get a sale. I have done this with the optic zone in the past. They are a smaller husband and wife outfit and are real nice people to deal with. I'm not looking to kill anyone, I know people have to make a profit, but sometimes a smaller profit is better than none at all. When I got my Sightron III, 8x32 with 1/8 dot, I paid $699.00 from SWFA, I had to wait 3 months, but I eventually got the scope. They had a special when the scope first came out. I love my Sightrons, great scopes. I will be buying another in the spring for a new 6.5x47 Lapua that Cooper is making for me. Most likely it will be from the Optic Zone.

Merry Christmas.

Nomad - it is the SIIISS832x56LRTD/TDT. 1/8 turrents and the superfine .012 crosshairs and 1/8 dot. I like 1/8 turrents better, but will have to see how I like the reticle. I've had dot scopes before and liked them, but they were more like 1/4 dots.

I have the same scope with mil dot reticle, 1/4 turrents and the crosshairs are .07 thick at max power which is a little thicker than I like, but still pretty decent. I paid $737 from Bear Basin a year ago for that one, as they honored the Ammo Zone price with a slight VISA and shipping adjustment. Was hoping to pay the same for my new one, but Bear Basin only honors a price if the item is in stock. Unfortunately I couldn't find it any cheaper anywhere else in stock and I wanted it sooner than later. Wish I had of checked Optic Zones home page and saw their special deal, but only lost out on about $30 bucks. Bear Basin has been good to me in the past and I don't mind paying that difference to help keep them in business.

I bought a laser rangefinder from Bear Basin a few years ago. No problems.

I've got three 8-32x56 Sightrons, two target dots and one mil dot. That's ironic, I prefer 1/4 turrets. But I will probably sell one of my 8-32s and buy a 10-50x60 and it will have 1/8 turrets.
