5.7x28

It isnt as easy as 9x19 or 45 ACP, but is isnt difficult either.

Most of the primers are crimped and your charge weights have to be within 0.1-.2. With that small volume you can go from mild to wild in a hurry.

After the 3rd reload I toss the brass. Blowback and bottleneck cases dont go that well together.

I reload for it so I can shoot subsonic 55 FMJs through my little PS-90 SBR.

My Grandson bought one a few months ago and is looking to save a little money as he shoots a lot. Crimped primers are not an issue and I do understand small capacity cases.
Thanks

I think on a 5 seven if youre a shooter without an unlimited budget you should look elsewhere for a shooter type pistol. Ive never seen anybody get more than 3 loads on brass and i read somewhere the pistol itself has a sort of limited life

This is not good news as I have one. Limited life in what respect?

Kind of a pain to reload.

First negative thing that happened was my Hornady FL die scraped the Lacquer and some brass off the case. The edge of the mouth of the die was jagged and seemed too tight also. I polished the problem away and got a perfect fit after a while.

Had to buy that RCBS extended shell holder because otherwise the case would pop out of the regular shell holder when FL sizing. The reason why is the hole through the shell holder isn't much smaller than the lips on the shell holder are. Not much purchase area to grasp the rim of the case. The extended shell holder doesn't have a hole in it to punch primers out so primer punching became a separate step but it at least eliminates the case from popping out.

Gotta be careful not to remove the lacquer coating. I just sized my brass with Imperial die wax and wipe the case off. Then removed the crimp.

I bought my dies in the spring and worked up a load with 40vmax and Trublue. Darned if this wasn't too hot of a load a couple months later in the heat of summer. That batch of ammo was then labeled - "winter load", lol. Ended up backing it off .2 more grains for summer but shot the winter load a couple weeks ago which were fine.

Also my regular Harrels powder measure does not meter a 5.6 grain charge worth crap. Best if you have a pistol powder measure, IMO.

Well weighing to the 10th of a grain is important in a tiny case this size, and that is also tedious.

I'm tossing my brass after the 3rd cycle too.

Looking back, I personally wouldn't have started reloading for this cartridge.

Dusty, don't you know that the younguns know it all. It really is a fun gun to shoot. He also has a 9mm, 40 cal, and a 45acp.

Maybe it was when they were just coming out but they were battering frames and slides after a few hundred rounds and fn was like oh man why are you shooting it that much?
Mine is a couple years old, do you think it is a good one or the old style?

I really dont know much about em. Ive shot a few and lusted over them before that. I have a 224boz type round that fills that need- its one of my designs made from a 10mm case. I can only run 15 in a glock though
