5.7X28 necked down to .17????

Sniper338, if your open to suggestions I'd like to recommend you looking into using 22 TCM brass for your project. I should preface this with the fact that the overwhelming majority of my testing with both the 5.7X28 and 22 TCM brass has been for use in 14 caliber rifles though so your results may very.

I think you'll find the 5.7 x 28 neck reduction will save you some time and have less material to remove when truing the necks up while the 22 TCM will require more material to be removed. Having said that if your okay inside and outside neck turning after reduction, from my findings, (reducing it to 14 and 12 caliber) you'll find the 22 TCM brass to yield better results in the long haul.

I've been pretty pleased with both the neck reduction and fire forming properties of the ARMSCOR 22 TCM brass that I have used here. It has been pretty consistent and yielded good brass for our 14 TCM Extreme chamberings. (I have not had a chance to do much testing with it in 12 caliber yet.) The price is very reasonable as well.

I think if your looking in the 15 gr. powder weight capacity range for your finished cartridge you'll find it to be a good fit.

Wish you the very best of luck on your project which ever route you take,

Carl C.
