5.6x57 Help!

So I acquired a nice rem 700 BDL chambered in 5.6x57 something crazy hard to load for I guess? So rather than go down that rabbit hole should one just rebarrel to a long action of choice and go on which is why I purchased it any “for cheap”? Just wanna make sure I’m not missing anything as I know nothing about this caliber!

There's load data in the 3rd Hornady manual. It looks like brass can be made from the ?x57 family of cases. It's basically a 22-6mm Remington with a slightly shallower shoulder angle & approx. 220 Swift performance or a touch more.

Also... if you can find a copy of Handloader #75 or #139 there is a fairly in depth article in each & of course there's a piece in Cartridges of the World... at least the 5th edition.

Depending on your mindset, it could be great fun or a screaming PITA. I think RCBS used to make dies, Redding lists them currently in Group D, & there's always CH4D.

I run a 5.6x50 Mag punched to 6mm...love it. But then I am an odd bird, and like weird things. If it were me, I'd be shooting it.

There is some very expensive loaded ammo on GB if you’re desperate to shoot it.
