Wondering if anyone is reloading for this caliber! I am looking for some soft recoil loads for the whole family to shoot. Best to PM thanks.

Speer bullets has load data with relatively mild loads, but I think you would be better off with something else for the whole family to shoot.

I have the Ruger Alaskan in 454 for my backwoods and hiking carry pistol. My lady and the kids LOVE shooting it with 45LC. When shooting 45LC it recoils less (maybe not less, but differently - rolling versus linear and slow vs snappy) than their compact 9mm's. It's a hoot to shoot. Enough so that the lady switched from a G29 to a Kimber 6S.

454 is a different creature though.....

I've shot the Ruger Alaskan in 454 Casull, and to me the recoil was significantly more severe than full power 460 loads in the 8-3/8" 460.

For late teen boys, full power 460 should not be a problem. To get soft recoil loads for the whole family to shoot, try 45 colt.

Thanks everyone and as far as the Trail Boss I have looked into that but it seems all loads are for lead bullets that I have found.

Hell, you can use Trailboss in a 300 Blackout. Get some of the 45 Colt cases that are shorter than the normal
case, there sold by Starline. 45 Cowboy.
