45ACP bullets in a 45 long colt

in my experience many of the 45lc are .454 not .451 and may not like the difference.

Bob; both of my Ruger Blackhawk's bore size to .452 +/- .005". Pretty much the same as my (4) 45ACP's.

Pretty substantial tolerance there DED45!

colts might have been .454 many many moons ago, but have not been for at least a couple of decades.

i have been running the same bullets in my 45acp as 45 colts for at least 20 years. that includes several rifles as well as revolvers. and, a crimp is not necessary in 45 colt unless you are talking tube mag or hot loads. if you think you must crimp to a light taper crimp with a 45 acp crimp die.

I have a S&W 45LC and the bore is .454 I also had a number (6) colt single actions that were .454 some of the later manufacture.

my Colt and Kimber 45acp are all 451/452

The military, FBI & CIA type people are trained to shoot twice as fast as possible at each bad person. Keep shooting if the intended bad person is still standing. Don't shoot once and wait to see what the affect of the shot is. A severely wounded person can return fire. Make sure you know the laws or you will be charged with murder.

I have a .45 Ruger LC SS 5.5", the barrel is .451 exactly.

Cast some WFN hard lead about 3/4 full (or little less in mold) "immediately followed" by the 1/4 space left of pure lead, use 21/22 gr Winchester 296 or Hodgdon H110 with 260 to 300+gr bullets (from mold) These will stop a deer so fast centrifugal force will cause the skin to come halfway off, (1/2 skinned, saves time later) ;D 8).

Forget about those gimmick bullets, they are ridiculous. :

By far the easiest way to get drug across the financial gates of hell is to shoot a bad guy with a reload.

The attorneys will work the jury into a lather against you for shooting their client with such ammo. Stay with factory loaded ammo and dodge this issue.

Bad guy WILL be dead......no need for an attorney!!!

Spinning in a 14" circle puts all four pieces outside of the center of the vital area. Plus they probably don't penetrate well. Find a more traditional bullet intended for self defense or one that's recommended for deer hunting with a pistol.
