.45 ACP small primer case

Does anyone have info on a .45 ACP case using a small primer ? Friend of mine recently came across one.

Some companies started making them 5 or 6 years ago. The first I saw were Federal cases marked "NT" for non-toxic primers... then I saw Speer cases with small primers. (The heavy hand of the ATK take over).

When we first ran into them, is was in a crate of fired brass, and they shut our loading machines down.

I have quite a few of the small primer 45 cases. I personally trim them down to 45 GAP length, load them and use them only in my Glock. It keeps them from getting mixed up with my regular 45 acp's.

I suspected it had something to do with primers that contain no lead. No useful purpose. The case my buddy had was a Federal NT.

I load them using regular data. Loads and chronos the same.

Now that there is cats and dogs in 45 ACP, I have switched over to 45 GAP in all but one of my 45s. I ordered short chambered 45 barrels from Kart and KKM and chambered them to GAP. With moon clips it works perfect in my revos as well.

As of right now, all but one flavor of GAP brass is small primer.
