Approximately how many times can a 45-70, 45-120 be reloaded using black power.

Clean it quickly after returning from the range and I bet it would be darn-near infinite if you take care of the case mouths.

yep....drop them in a bucket of water after firing to prevent corrosion. Wash them with soap and water when you get home. They last a long time that way. Corrosion is the big issue

I've always taken a milk jug with soapy water and i throw them in at the range.I also deprime them at the range.

Besides tossing them in soapy water add some baking soda this remove the acidity. Also, when tumbling add about 1/4 cup of blasting soda which polishes and removes acidity on cases too.

As stated, as long as you clean them promptly just about forever. Low pressure loads with straight walled cases, with BP a lot of guys slip fit bullets and don’t size cases.

It’s not quite the same, but several yrs ago I was talking to a Schutzen shooter I saw at the range every Sat. I was asking him about his process. Breach seating, throwing charges, etc…, I was very surprised to find he’d been using the same case (as in 1) for 5 yrs.

Thats their solution for case capacity differences. It makes every shot happen with the exact same volume.

I hadn’t thought about that in yrs. Looking back at the last 2 months I’ve prepped and loaded and shipped over 1000 cases for the FCWC and the FCNC. I might consider changing shooting disciplines.
