4198 in a 6PPC ??

anybody tried H4198 in a 6PPC with 68 bullets,,it is a hassel getting 29.5 133 in the case and thought I would try something a little faster,,worked up to 27.5 at 3380 from 24 inch bbl and only slightly flat 205 primers but no change in bolt lift at all over the 25 to 27.5 charges,,POI seems to be pretty steady also going from 3080-3380 FPS and ever .5 gr bump got right at 60 fps ,,

think I will load a few rounds at about 3250 fps and shoot a couple 5 shot groups and a score target and see how it goes,,

Stick what works in a 6PPC, N133 or LT32. If you have a hard time getting 29.5 grains in try a long drop tube and that should help you out.

I personally never tried it but some 15-20 years ago a lot of guy's shot it and if I remember right they had won some match's with it but had trouble with it spiking in hot weather and several guy's were know to tear up a set of cases in one match but did well with it. I heard some guys talking about light loads of H322 I know most will disagree but I have shot 25.0 grs H322 and shot .270 .280's at 200 yards in the wind...it's freeky..H322 shoots well under some conditions.
Like cool windy mornings. N133 is the go to and a 4 to 6 inch drop tube and a slow trickle into the case you will get 30.5 in there as that is how it's done.

Back in the early 80's, I shot 25Gr's. of H-4198 with 65Gr. Rubright's in my 6PPC hunter gun, .007 into the rifling. It shot extremely well as long as the humidity didn't get to high. I do believe most guys today are shooting N-133 or LT-32 but it's been years snce I've shot a PPC.

Some guys still use it in the winter league. Maybe someone will chime in ?

I am running 27 gns of 4197 Scott Brigadier with a 65 gn bullet in my 6ppc with great results. Usual disclaimer....safe in my rifle but not maybe in yours, etc.
