40X Rimfire to Centerfire

Is it possable to change a 40X rimfire into a centerfire by replacing the Bolt with one of kiffs replacment bolt. Are the actions cut the same or is it just the outside footprint thats the same.

This is true. I was wondering if they took an action that came off the centerfire production line and adapted the rimfirebolt and barrel to it.

A quick call to Remington R&D contact is in order.

Thanks German

They also machine out where the lugs are on a centerfire to allow for the barrel tenon to extend back to near the rear of front receiver ring. So long story short, No they cannot be adapted from one to the other either way.

Got a response from a Engineer for big green.

The answer is yes, but not advised at all, do to an extra cut in the middle of the reciever that weekens the overall construction. It DOES come off the same assy line as the Center fire actions. It also does not have the Anti Bind slot.

It COuld be done but is not optimal by anymeans is the response.

The conversion project has been scrapped in favor of building another nice rimfire rifle prone gun.
