40X in 22-250 question

Just wondering if Remington ever made a 40X in 22-250? Was going thru some barrels I had purchased years ago an pulled this one off the shelf. It has 22-250 Rem on one side of the barrel, and on the other side about 90 degrees away, is a rectangle with REP inside and a triangle with the letter "s", and thats all. Barrel is tapped for what I assume are scope blocks and the barrel, stainless, is 27" long.

Just wondering what I have.

THE S IS THE INSPECTOR STAMP ALL INSPECTORS HAVE DIFFERENCE LETTERS OR SYMBOLS LUCK DUSTY SAID REP MEANS THAT IT WAS INSPECTED BY WITCH EVER INSPECTOR THAT USED THE S STAMPED IT BECAUSE WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THEY GO TO THE INSPECTOR THAT USES THE S FOR HIS OR HER STAMP AND YES THEY MADE 22-250 40X'S

My 40x is an old one, letter B after the serial # and no vent hole on the right side. Bought used in the late 80's, 2oz trigger and chambered 22-250. Immediately had it rechambered to 22BR. Extremely awesomely accurate. If yours is a 40x, use that barrel wisely because it's a gem.

Thanks. It seems to be quite heavier than the old "700 bdl Varmint Special" barrels, thats one reason I wondered if it was a 40X barrel, that and the D&T holes for scope blocks.

Appreciate the info

I have a stainless 40X that was originally a 22-250,box, paper work and hand stop. It died in a Prairie Dog town around 2600 rounds. It now a 22BR in a Shilen 12 tw barrel.

I know that they did as my first 40-X was in 22-250. 32 thousand series serial number. Flat crown with blued barrel matching action. A gunsmith years ago removed that original, frozen on barrel by a relief cut with a lathe in front of the lug. Unfortunately that destroys the barrel.

My buddy Mark has a much newer 22-250 stainless 40-X, factory, that I’ve tried to wrestle away from him to save prairie dogs but he won’t sell it while they live. They definitely make them.

Did Remington ever put hart barrels on 40x 22-250 from the factory ? Purchased used a 40x several years ago and it’s a fine shooting rifle. Owner said it was just like it came from custom shop but noticed it has a hart barrel on it

DONT THINK THEY EVER USED HART BARREL IF IT HAD HEART SYMBOL ON THE BARREL IT WAS THE INSPECTOR STAMP

My 40X with Thumbhole laminated stock is chambered in 22-250 and has an internal mag.
The action is inlet for stripper clips and it's tapped on the side of the action and end of the barrel for sights.

It was reported that Remington 40Xs came with Hart barrels.
