22-250 question

i have winchester brass for my 22-250 and i don't know how many times its been shot, lost count. i want to anneal it and am wondering about how long do i leave them in front of the torch?
also, will this return it to 'like new' condition?

why screw with it ? the brass new runs $30-$40 per 100..i shoot 22-250..the brass really stretches..i was told to only re cut 3 times..then in the crimped brass box. the last thing i want is for a case to split

Five seconds then just dump it into a cardboard box and let it cool.

i hate it when that happens. if you've already loaded like 6 times without annealing befor it may be a good idea to get some new brass. u'd proly still be okay, but u should really try to anneal after every 3 or 4 shots. in my 22-250 i have annealed win. brass up to 2 times,so about 10-12 firings). if i were in your shoes i would trim, anneal and really strive to get only about 3 more firings; it's too cheap.

heres how i do it. turn off light, set propane torch on table. stick home made rod in the primer pocket and spin neck in flame til a dull red. set 'em aside and jst let them air cool.

i don't dunk in water cuz usually when you anneal somethin you let it slow cool. that way you don't have to worry about drying off and dealing w/ water spots. plus your not cooling them down uniformy when you dunk them in water so it totally defeates the purpose.

I`m with 'tome'. Annealing ain`t worth the hassle. Forty years ago when in University I tried various annealing methods and came to the conclusion it was a waste of my time. In my .22-250 I have shot Winchester and Remington brass. The Win far outlasts the Rem. I shoot Win brass until it bites the dust and then buy a new bag.

thanks guys i figure i would practice on my 250 bc yea brass is cheap and i could get good at it for my 6br. i know times are different on every round but still i wanted to practice so i don't ruin my lapua brass. i would say its been loaded like 8 or 9 times if not more. thanks for everything.
i think i am runnign a pretty stout load, 36.2 grns of imr 3031 w/ 40 grn v-max and cci br primers. velocity about 4050 out of a 22 in barrel.

Lapua brass comes anealed already, I get easy 15 loads out of mine in my 6BR, that's 1500 shots, I would say I get my monies worth by then.

yea i know that x3, and i had to do it already on 8 firings. thats just what my gun likes.
