40x 308

Bid on this thinking it was a single shot but it's a repeater . Listing did not mention this and honestly I didn't look at all the pictures . Oh well I'm going to see how it shoots before I move it . 40x 308 Rangemaster . Anyone have one that can give me a starting point for loads ? Bullets ? Powder ? I appreciate your help .

Where did you bid on it, and how much?

I am looking for one, and we might chat.

Shoot me a PM, if you would.

The 7.62 chamber was theoretically throated for the M852 match...but I’m not sure how different it was from a 308.

most of these were 12 twists so most don’t handle the 190s very well. But up to 180 (175) they should be fine. As for loads...

41.5 to 42.5 IMR 4895 with a 168 Sierra, Remington or Federal case, 210M primer seated to 2.810...go shoot holes in the X. If you use cases 175 grains or heavier go no higher than 42.0.

or 42.2 IMR 4064: with a 190 or 180 grain bullet seated to the lands in cases weighing 165 grains or less (Lapua Palma) shoot holes in the X at 600 like you have a laser....

Shoot it. A lot. You'll like it.

Mine was set up as a course rifle. Sold the stock to a member, and put it into an HS Precision that my plumber skim bedded. Mounted an old Mk 4 3.5 - 10, and it's great. Shoots factory federal into one hole.

Listen to riflewoman.

God bless America

lol depends on who did it and just how "nato". it is
I just sized over 1200 lc 93 match cases. the rifles they were fired in are so tight chambered that what they really needed was neck sizing! little to no fl sizing work at all.

So is the 7.62 NATO chamber good or bad ?
