408 Cheytec? To buy, or not to buy...

I found what i believe is a really good deal on a Noreen ULR in 408 Cheytec.

While i'd really like to get it, i really don't NEED it. I don't really shoot the big boomers. Although KO2M really interests me. I don't have many places to be able to shoot it either.

I should really put the money towards a gun for matches, but.....

What say you?

Peterson brass 50 for $130.
And Cutting Edge Bullets located close enough for me to pick up.

Nothing wrong with scratching that itch. As you said, it looks like a good deal. The reloading equipment will cost you unless it is included in the deal. You can always sell it down the line and maybe get close to breaking even. I have not had the pleasure of playing with one like you are looking at.........But I would like to...

Regards
Rick

I'd say that if you don't have a good place to shoot beyond 1,000 yards, it would be like buying a howitzer for a rimfire match. If you can shoot at 2,000 yards - that's another story.

I have 2 different 1,000 yard ranges.
2,000 yards is a different story.

There's always the power lines through the state forest..

Just kidding!!!

I'd pass, mostly because you don't have somewhere to shoot it. How many pounds of powder do you have stored up? They burn it at a prodigious rate.

Those are legitimate public ranges BUT be smart when using them. There are times when theres zero traffic on those power lines. I use them in real early spring before the thaw but after the snow melt. All to myself. I also have a one mile visibility for possible travelers.

I might look for a deal on the Noreen 50, if you are going that route. It’s like the dessert eagle semi that is not chambered in 50. Unless it’s a .2 moa shooter, in which case finding a “good deal” is unlikely, you might be a little underwhelmed at what the .408 does, with the expectations set by the rifle’s size.

Just an update...
Decided not to buy...
No place to really shoot the thing, combined with the cost of feeding. Especially in this time of powder, and primer shortages.

Along with trying to fund a mid range rifle to shoot some matches this year.
Found several hunting rifles that i really want. But if i do that, no match rifle.
