4 Lots of ELD-M, 4 Different Base to Ogive

Hi Folks,

I have in my possession a number of boxes of hornady 162 ELD-M, with 4 different lot numbers.

Using a hornady comparator, I am seeing 35 thousands difference in base to ogive across the 4 lots. I fully expect differences from lot to lot, but this seems significant.

My question to the brainstrust -
How do I get a consistent seating depth when I switch from one lot to the next? Is it simply a case of measuring the distance to the ogive on loaded rounds and adjusting my seating die accordingly so I have a consistent CBTO?

My barrel really likes these things, but not when I switch from one lot to the next!

Thanks in advance

Without changing seating die the cbto should remain the same, but you'll have more bearing surface seated deeper in the case on longer bullets.
I actually have 8 rounds ov 123 amax loaded with a variance of .006 bbto for mama's 260.
As I want to truly see if any difference down range.
Buy larger lots and sort load out of sorted lots. That's my plan anyway.

This has happened to me with 215 Berger Hybrids. Crazy part was the base to ogive was off .035. But seated the same length and lands measurement was the same... so ogive was in same place but there was extra on the end.

Only 4 across 4 lots? I had more than that within one lot.
The lots are consistent within themselves (within a couple of thou), it's between lots that I have observed the 35 thou difference - ie one lot number is consistently 35 thou longer than another

Thank you, that makes sense
