.375 scope

I am wanting to buy a scope for my .375 to hunt game in Africa and it's been suggested to me to buy a 1.5 to 6 x 42 preferably a Leupold VX 3 bearing in mind hunting plains game and up to African Buffalo. I don't want to buy the wrong scope can anyone please advise me. Regards

Ditto on the Leupold. I have a 4X compact on my .375. Took it off a .460 Wby. Also I highly recommend the low power Burris scopes. They are even tougher than the Leupolds. You want large field of view, long eye relief, and toughness.

On my .375 I have a Leupold 1.75-6 X 32mm VX-III and it's definitely an excellent scope. For this scope I needed to get offset/cantilevered scope rings to handle the shorter mounting surface of the scope compared to the long action of the rifle. I also use Leupold 1.5-5X VX-III scopes on other big calibers. Either are good choices. The heavier reticles available will permit you to see them easily on dark or cluttered backgrounds. There are also lighted reticles if you care to spend the money and hunt dim-light situations.

That's why Leupold came out with the 1.75x6 E scope.
E stands for extended, so you don't have to use the extended rings and/or bases on the long actions. Rems anyway.
Looking in the catalog, maybe they're all E's now.

I use the Leupold FX11-2.5 on my 458 Lott. It is designed for heavy recoiling rifles and long eye relief.
