Love my 35 Remington! I'll have to check my recipe book. Haven't shot that gun in a long time.
I know I have some cast load data but ended up loading for the Lever Evolution bullets.
It turned it into a different gun!

I have the same rifle and it shoots the cast bullet with a gas check mold from rcbs the best group with IMR 3031 powder... I think it came out of the Lyman manual....Later

Steve, I just got though working up a load for a Marlin in 35 Rem.

41g of Lever powder
200g tipped hornady
3/4" at 100 yards
Lee factory crimp die used and you can ruin the accuracy by over crimping

I'm watching this thread...I had read somewhere..The older pre micro groove barrels shoot cast bullets better...Anyone know more about which pattern of rifling does best with each type of bullet ???

Barsness or Pierce did a write up a while back in Handloader or Rifle magazine on the 35 Remington. Geared around bolt guns, but more modern reloading data.

Micro groove will shoot cast fine. Some tinkering involved but it isn't tough. Read some and learn from others findings. There are some Ranch Dog molds out there that are designed with micro groove in mind.

I have played with the 35R in bolt,lever and TC platform. Never found it to be hard to find a load for any of them. It is much akin to the likes of the 30-221 aka blackout, with its minute shoulder for headspace. Some chambers are largish.
Once you find that, most of the work is over. This was the cartridge that pushed me to load for a specific gun and keep that ammo seperate. If you load for several guns and make all loads "generic", you tend to get generic results.

Years ago a friend had Marlin in 35 Remington and wanted some reduced loads for plinking and nights use.We came up with 10 grains of Unique with a 110 grain hollow point Sierra jacketed made for the 38-357 pistol,they shot very well and would hull out a jackrabbit at 75 yards

Try 200 gr Horn round nose with IMR4198, Has worked well for me.

Lyman load data I used for .35 Rem in a M-336C showed IMR3031 provided superbly accurate loads under Hornady
200RN . Worked fine on deer, too. If I recall correctly, the charge Lyman listed for IMR3031 under the 200 RN was exactly 1gr more than the charge they listed for their cast 204gr RN-GC. The lighter charge w/ the cast RN shot well accuracy wise, but I never tried the cast lead bullet on deer.

I've got a CVA Scout 22" .35Rem. My upcoming range cessions w/ the rifle will be to try out IMR4166 w/
Cutting Edge .358" calibre 150gr Extended Range Raptor ( turned brass ) bullets. These bullets shot lights out in my
M-336 XLR .35Rem during initial closer range work; using reduced charges of H4198.
